Flooring Fundraiser
We are raising funds to install new flooring in the Fellowship Hall, the entry by the ramp, the landing at the bottom of the stairs, and possibly the kitchen. (We are waiting for final pricing for the kitchen). We will be using Luxury Vinyl Planks for the new floors; there is a sample in the Entry. The cost of the new floors in the Fellowship Hall, entry, and landing is $22,270. (The kitchen would be approximately $3,250 more.) After using the $8,000 in the Memorial Fund, we need to raise $14,200. If you would like to contribute you may use a Special Offering envelope found in the pews or give online on our website. (If giving online, select “Memorials” on the “To:” drop down.) There is a chart in the main entry which will show the ongoing progress of the fundraiser. Blessing of the PetsSunday, October 5, 2025 October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis (1182-1226) was a monk who founded the contemporary order of Franciscans. He was known for his vow of poverty and his special connection to animals, among many other things. On Sunday, October 5, at the beginning of the worship service, we will celebrate Saint Francis of Assisi with a Blessing of the Pets. Please bring your fish, caged animals, well-behaved dogs or cats, or pictures of animals that you want to have blessed. Trinity Lutheran Church is also hosting a Blessing of the Animals Sunday, October 5, at 12:30 pm in Clark Park between the off-leash area and Trinity’s sanctuary (2324 Lombard). There will prayers, scripture, singing, and blessings of pets. There will also be time to honor the memory of pets who have passed; you are welcome to bring their ashes as well. October 2025 "Spirit" Newsletterby Bishop Shelley Bryan Wee There are snakes all around us. It might not seem like it, but just like the snakes that surrounded the people of Israel, snakes are surrounding us. Let me remind you of that story found in Numbers 21. The people of Israel had been in the wilderness for almost 40 years and they are tired. They are worn out. They are angry. They are annoyed. There is no water and the manna which God has provided for them is, as the people say, “miserable.” They complain about God and they complain about Moses. And suddenly, in the middle of their complaining, they are surrounded by snakes. For more infomation visit: http://centrallutheran132.tithelysetup.com/news/october-2025-spirit-newsletter

Acting Like God
“Following World War II, many of the countries were devastated by the war. Many American soldiers stayed behind to help them clean up. One Sunday morning an American soldier turned the corner in one of the large cities in Europe, in his Jeep, and looked over and saw about a ten-year-old kid standing in front of a bakery. He was looking longingly at the food in that bakery. “The soldier pulled the Jeep over, jumped out of the Jeep, and said to the kid, ‘Are you hungry?’ “The boy said, ‘I sure am, sir.’ “Without any other words, the soldier went into the bakery and got a big sack full of donuts and baked goods and came back out and gave them to that little boy. He tousled his hair and jumped back into his Jeep and was getting ready to pull out. The little kid turned around and said, ‘Sir, are you God?’…. “That soldier was not God and neither are we when we give,…but we are more like God when we give than any other time in our life.” [The Benefits of Lifestyle Stewardship, John Maxwell, audio tape] Finance Update through August 2025 Beginning Balance at the end of July (5,681) Our projected budget for January through August is a deficit of $4,463, therefore we are $2,537 ahead of our projected budget. Statement of Immigrants' Rights
Central Lutherean Church's Statement of Immigrants’ Rights As a community of faith, Central Lutheran Church believes that all people are created in the image of God and have inherent dignity and worth. As disciples of Christ, and following his example, we are called to love our neighbors. We live this out by welcoming the stranger, standing in solidarity with, supporting, and protecting those who are marginalized, oppressed, or in need. This includes immigrants who seek refuge, safety, and opportunity. Thus, we affirm:
As people of God, we will strive to reflect God’s love by working towards a society where all people regardless of origins can flourish with equality and respect. For more infomation visit: http://centrallutheran132.tithelysetup.com/news/statement-of-immigrants-rights--79 |
