Collaboration Sunday

Collaboration Sunday

Combined Worship and BBQ - Sunday, July 6, 2025

The big holiday weekend is coming, and we thought it would be fun on that Sunday to do something a little different. The Gathering, Central, Faith and Trinity Lutheran Churches are coming together for COLLABORATION SUNDAY. There will be a shorter than usual service, followed by a BBQ in the Fellowship Hall. The Gathering will provide the burgers, hotdogs, buns, condiments, and drinks. People are invited to bring a side-dish, chips, or dessert.

July/August 2025 "Spirit" Newsletter

July/August 2025 "Spirit" Newsletter

by Bishop Shelley Bryan Wee

I thank you for calling me to a second term as bishop. I am honored and to be on this journey with you all. Below is a shortened version of the speech I gave during our last Synod Assembly.

Beloveds in Christ, there’s a lot happening in our world. You know this. And it’s easy to get overwhelmed or discouraged. But let me say this clearly: There is no better time than now to be the church. The world is complex and the work before us might be at times frustrating and messy and hard. And yet, I truly believe that in this complicated moment in time, for the sake of every beloved child of God, we are called to be the church of Jesus Christ.

And Christ is calling us for this moment – not to fear, but to love. Not to look backward, but forward. Not to hide, but to hope. Not to retreat, but to rise. Not to hate, but to love. Now is the time. Rooted in God’s presence and promise through Jesus the risen Christ - now is the time to stand in courage and truth. There is no better time than now to be the church.

Thank You!

Thank You!

Dear Friends of Central Lutheran Church,

Thank you for the wonderful celebration of my 35th Anniversary of Ordination. It is amazing how time flies! And it is so easy to forget to look back, remember, and give thanks for everything that has shaped us into who we are today. I received cards from people in each of the four congregations I have served. Reading those cards has reminded me of the wonderful journey I have had the past 35 years. I am very thankful that serving here at Central is part of that journey.

Peace,

Pastor Jim

Sunday Supper

Sunday Supper

Sundays at 5:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall

The homeless, under-resourced, or just plain hungry are all welcome! Anyone in need can get a meal at Central Lutheran Church each Sunday night. Sunday Suppers are at 5:00 pm. These meals are provided by volunteers from  different congregations representing a variety of denominations in Snohomish County.

You are invited to serve in this vital ministry. Volunteers can arrive at 4:30 to help with set up and the meal will be served at 5:00. We stop serving meals at 6:00 and usually can be cleaned up and done by 6:30.   As the saying goes, many hands make light work.

Thank you as always for your support in time, food, and prayers.

Let’s Talk Money

Let’s Talk Money

“Usually when Jesus got to people’s hearts they responded with acts of generosity. The results were in cash, a mite from one (a couple of dollars today), and half a sizeable fortune from the other. It seems that Jesus was convinced that a change of heart was clearly marked by a change in giving.

“Martin Luther said that three conversions were necessary: the head, the heart and the purse.

“The scriptures recognize this in the importance attached to idolatry. People are often surprised to find little uneasiness about atheism in the Bible, but a great deal of agitation over idolatry.” [56 Devotions On Short Notice, Robert A. Wallace]

This is one of the primary reasons we need to talk about money in church and give money in church worship services. It protects us from the idolatry that keeps our heart locked out of connecting with God and living a life of meaning and purpose.

Finance Update through May 2025

Our projected budget for January through May was a deficit of $5,771, therefore we are $3,488 behind our projected budget.

Statement of Immigrants' Rights

Statement of Immigrants' Rights

Central Lutherean Church's Statement of Immigrants’ Rights

As a community of faith, Central Lutheran Church believes that all people are created in the image of God and have inherent dignity and worth. As disciples of Christ, and following his example, we are called to love our neighbors. We live this out by welcoming the stranger, standing in solidarity with, supporting, and protecting those who are marginalized, oppressed, or in need. This includes immigrants who seek refuge, safety, and opportunity. Thus, we affirm:

  • Immigrants, regardless of their status or nationality, are beloved children of God and deserve to be treated with justice and compassion.
  • Every person has the right to live with dignity, to seek a better life, and be treated fairly in society.
  • Immigrants’ rights to family unity, access to education, and a fair legal process should be  protected.
  • Policies that dehumanize or discriminate against immigrants should be opposed.

As people of God, we will strive to reflect God’s love by working towards a society where all people regardless of origins can flourish with equality and respect.
