November 2024 "Spirit" Newsletterby Bishop Shelley Bryan Wee Dear Beloveds, As the election season is here – and for many, your vote has already been cast – I have been doing some reflecting on what it means to vote as a Lutheran Christian. Please know that I am not telling you who to vote for in this election. It is not for me to tell you who to vote for. I mean, after all, God is neither Republican or Democrat, or even American. Dinner and a Movie (Rescheduled)"God on Trial" - Sunday, November 10, 2024 Dinner and a Movie has been rescheduled for Sunday, November 10. Dinner is pizza. The movie is “God on Trial,” a Masterpiece Theater production set in Auschwitz during World War II. The Jewish prisoners put God on trial for abandoning the Jewish people. The question is whether God has broken his covenant with the Jewish people by allowing the Germans to commit genocide. We will eat dinner while we watch the movie, which is 90 minutes, and then discuss the movie. There is a sign-up sheet in the Sanctuary. Please signup if you plan to attend so that we know how much pizza to order. For more infomation visit: http://centrallutheran132.tithelysetup.com/events/dinner-and-a-movie-rescheduled/2024-11-10 |

Thank You from Lutherwood Camp and Retreat Center
Dear Central Lutheran Church, Thank you for your $235 gift that you made to Lutherwood Camp and Retreat Center! Your gift helps further our mission of sharing God's love by experiencing GRACE in Creation. We are excited to be building up this era of camp, and having the generous prayers and financial support of your family makes sure we can be a place of faith development for years to come. We welcomed over 300 campers in our summer programming in 2024, and that does not include the many individuals and groups that come to Lutherwood with their congregations and families on retreats and gatherings. Our camp has been ALIVE with the excitement of new leadership and a new drive to follow God's call. in 2025, we are praying for God's guidance to continue expanding our physical accessibility around camp, build up our day camp and Middle School and High School adventure programming, get some fresh paint on our Main campus, and invest in updating three worship areas. Please come visit us or give us a call. We love to hear the stories of why people are passionate about Lutherwood and outdoor ministry. The amazing bonds of ministry across the 78+ years of Lutherwood are a gift from God. Again, thank you for designating this gift to Lutherwood! In Christ, Rev. Kevin Beebe Executive Director Lutherwood Camp & Retreat Center |

Sunday SupperSundays at 5:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall The homeless, under-resourced, or just plain hungry are all welcome! Anyone in need can get a meal at Central Lutheran Church each Sunday night. Sunday Suppers are at 5:00 pm. These meals are provided by volunteers from different congregations representing a variety of denominations in Snohomish County. You are invited to serve in this vital ministry. Volunteers can arrive at 4:30 to help with set up and the meal will be served at 5:00. We stop serving meals at 6:00 and usually can be cleaned up and done by 6:30. As the saying goes, many hands make light work. As the weather begins to get colder, our neighbors will be looking for coats, sweatshirts, hats, and gloves. If you have any gently used items we would love to keep them in stock for when people in need come in looking for warm-weather clothing. Thank you as always for your support in time, food, and prayers. |

Checkbook Autobiographies
“Robert Rodenmayer said, ‘There are three kinds of giving: grudge giving, duty give and thanksgiving.’ When Christ is the motive of our giving it is thanksgiving. Our giving for the physical and spiritual needs of people is a telling measurement of what Christ means to us. We are writing our autobiographies every day—in our checkbooks!” [Silent Strength, Lloyd John Ogilvie]
