October 4 is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis (1182-1226) was a monk who founded the contemporary order of Franciscans. He was known for his vow of poverty and his special connection to animals, among many other things.
On Sunday, October 5, at the beginning of the worship service, we will celebrate Saint Francis of Assisi with a Blessing of the Pets. Please bring your fish, caged animals, well-behaved dogs or cats, or pictures of animals that you want to have blessed.

Trinity Lutheran Church is also hosting a Blessing of the Animals Sunday, October 5, at 12:30 pm in Clark Park between the off-leash area and Trinity’s sanctuary (2324 Lombard).  There  will prayers, scripture, singing, and blessings of pets.  There will also be time to honor the memory of pets who have passed; you are welcome to bring their ashes as well.
